LSR Common Silicone Rubber for Molding and Extrusion
Food Grade 7260E Transparent LSR Common Silicone Raw Elastomer Rubber for Mold Making
DESCRIPTION
Liquid silicone rubber has a broad range of applications in various industries such as medical, life sciences, automotive, consumer products, and industrial & special application products. LSR is selected due to its distinctive properties. Silicone rubber is an inorganic polymer consisting of silicon (Si), oxygen (O), carbon (C), and hydrogen (H). The siloxane backbone, which is composed of silicon and oxygen, constitutes the main chemical chain. Catalysts are added during the curing process to produce chemical bonds between the backbones, known as crosslinks, to obtain the final properties. LSR is a type of platinum-cured silicone rubber. Compared to peroxide-cured silicone rubbers, platinum-cured silicone rubbers offer advantages such as enhanced tensile strength and tear strength, higher clarity and consistency, and do not leave behind peroxide residue.

PROPERTIES
The biocompatibility of liquid silicone rubber has been extensively tested and has proven to be highly compatible with human tissue and body fluids. It is hypoallergenic, making it a suitable option for skin-contact products. Compared to other elastomers, LSR is resistant to bacteria growth and does not stain or corrode other materials.
In addition, LSR is tasteless and odorless and can be formulated to meet FDA standards for food and beverage and baby products. Its durability allows it to withstand extreme temperatures, making it an excellent choice for components used in automobiles and outdoor applications.
Liquid silicone rubber also possesses exceptional chemical resistance, as it can resist water, oxidation, and some chemical solutions such as acids and alkali. It can be sterilized using various methods, such as steam autoclaving, ethylene oxide (ETO), gamma, e-beam, and several other techniques used in the medical and healthcare industries.
