Common Silicone Rubber for Extrusion
6.5Mpa Common Silicone Rubber Can be Extrusion for All Kinds of Industrial Parts
DESCRIPTION
Initially, silicone rubber was developed as an electrical insulation material. It is an elastomer that can be easily molded or cured, and is known for its versatility and ease of manufacture. Its exceptional temperature and environmental resistance made it popular across various industries.
Silicone rubber has a gel-like liquid form prior to curing and shaping, with excellent adhesive properties. This liquid state is utilized in life-science applications and optical products, as well as some cosmetic products. Once cured, it transforms into a synthetic rubber form.
After mixing the liquid rubber with necessary additives and coloring agents, it can be extruded into tubes, strips, or custom shapes. Silicone rubber is predominantly used in applications that require the retention of the original shape and mechanical strength.

PROCESSING
Common silicone rubber for extrusion is typically processed through a series of steps. First, the liquid silicone rubber is mixed with necessary additives and coloring agents. The mixture is then fed into an extruder, where it is heated and forced through a die of a specific shape and size. As it exits the die, it is cooled and solidified into the desired form, such as a tube or strip. The finished product is then inspected and tested to ensure it meets quality standards.
1. CNC machining of silicone rubber is complex, especially for softer grades. But, it can be ground, drilled and cut on CNC cutters.
2. Laser cutting and engraving of silicone rubber offer precise and detailed cuts. However, slight burnings on the edges may occur.
3. Silicone rubber is suitable for casting and injection molding. It offers stable quality, short cycle times, and no waste during molding, making it ideal for high-volume production.
