DESCRIPTION
AEM rubber is a unique rubber variant made from a copolymer blend of ethylene and methyl acrylate. A small fraction of a third monomer is also added to ensure cross-linking during the vulcanization process. The creation of AEM rubber was driven by the need for a rubber type with superior heat and oil resistance capabilities compared to other varieties of rubber.
Encompassing excellent long-term aging properties, AEM rubber is also highly resistant to weathering, ozone, and UV rays. It boasts good chemical resistance and electrical properties, and retains flexibility in low temperatures without becoming excessively hard in high heat conditions. This feature makes it suitable for a vast array of temperature applications.
Moreover, AEM rubber is renowned for its compatibility with mineral oil-based fluids, water, and diluted acids along with several other substances. Its unique properties make it a popular choice in the automotive industry for manufacturing components such as seals, O-rings, gaskets, and hoses. It also finds usage across various other industries for different applications.
Nevertheless, it's important to note that AEM rubber does not blend well with certain substances like brake fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and strong acids.
